Quelques années après une Neo Geo X d'assez triste mémoire, SNK sort la Neo Geo Mini, soit une borne d'arcade miniature — avec écran inclus — intégrant 40 jeux. En option, il est possible d'acheter une ou deux manettes identiques à celles que l'on trouvait sur la Neo Geo CD sortie en 1994, à connecter sur l'un des deux ports USB-C présents sur les côtés de l'objet. À ce titre, on regrette que SNK ne propose pas de réédition du stick arcade de la Neo Geo AES, même si la manette de la Neo Geo CD fait plutôt l'affaire : le stick analogique manque de résistance, mais s'avère assez précis, l'ergonomie reste correcte et les boutons bien placés. Il va sans dire que, si vous prévoyez de jouer essentiellement sur une TV, cet achat est indispensable.

Five months after the v500/v500a firmware removed all homebrew capabilities, while SNK Playmore and Tommo are busy arguing about the contract they once made, finally a jailbreak hack has been released. On the Facebook page Neogeoxjailbreakhack you’ll find links to the hacked image (based on the v500a firmware), instructions and sample content for a SD card with settings for many emulated consoles and arcade systems.
Systems supported so far: Nintendo Famicom/NES, Super Famicom/SNES, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy/Game Boy Color, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Master System/Game Gear, Atari 2600, Capcom CPS1/CPS2, Sony PlayStation, SNK Neo Geo.
To upgrade the Neo Geo X with the new capabilities you’ll need the yet to be released NGX Tools – or the official rocket cable and a X-Card or a similar modified SD card/adapter.
